Why do Men cheat on their Girlfriends?

It is evident from various studies that 75 to 80 percent of men cheat their wives for sexual reasons. Most cited reasons for unfaithfulness in men are usually

  • sexual addiction
  • desire for different kind of sexual partner
  • the desire to feel important
  • being sexually active

Low Self Esteem


Men who feel that they are neglected in their relationship often look for someone who lavish attention on them. They look for a new partner who is also in need of attention so that they can share mutual admiration that they were searching for.

Boredom and Curiosity

Boredom is yet another reason for extramarital affairs of men. Most men easily get bored by their routine life and start looking for new adventure and excitement. Life becomes monotonous for men when their wives are too occupied with household chores.


Some men pursue sexual affair only due to curiosity that how it will feel to sleep with other women.

Nagging Wives

The women who constantly urging and find faults in their husbands are unknowingly giving them reason to cheat. Men mostly complaint about their nagging wives and for the same reason look for a caring and comfortable company of another women.

Besides nagging wives, the after marriage can also contribute to lack of fidelity. As the years pass by wives start giving more attention to kids and household chores. This make husband feel neglected and left alone. Men want attention and when he don’t get it from home he look for the other alternatives.

Easy Access


In a couple number of years there is a rising trend of young husbands (under 30) cheating their wives. Experts suggest that this is due to the increased opportunities to come close to women. For instance, work place and business trips give immense opportunity to develop romantic relationship.

Male Ego


Male ego is one of the crucial underlines factor for men who cheat their wives. Some men believe to be superior to women in every relationship, especially in marriage. The desire to prove their masculine abilities and ability to attract other females lead to affairs.

Peer Pressure


Some of the extramarital affairs stem out because of peer pressure. Even subtle pressure from co-workers and friend can lead a man to cheat. For instance, friend’s sexual endeavours can persuade a man to cheat his wife.
